As a Wholesale Credit Risk APAC – Analyst in the Wholesale Credit Risk APAC team, you will be based in Mumbai playing a crucial position in onboarding new clients, undertaking credit analysis, structuring, negotiating, and building recommendations for new transaction approvals over a variety of products, among them loans, derivatives, and treasury products. You will lead due diligence and credit analysis to assess the creditworthiness of counterparties, making recommendations on appropriate structures, risk appetite, and customer grading. Your job will involve ongoing credit risk portfolio management, new client organisation onboardings, portfolio reviews and ad-hoc macro environment related stress exercises. You will also be committed to personal development and fostering team understanding by coaching and training members of the Analyst community. Your aptitude to balance a commercial mindset with a sound risk and controls attitude will be key to overseeing the Firm’s balance sheet successfully.

Job responsibilities

• Demonstrate proactive ownership of your assigned portfolio of client organisations such as borrower/market performance and acting as the main point of contact for all internal and external stakeholders for your portfolio
• Conduct transaction due diligence and credit analysis to assess counterparty creditworthiness
• Make recommendations on appropriate structure, risk appetite, and client grading informed by forward-looking credit analysis
• Participate in structuring and documentation negotiations with the support of senior colleagues
• Balance a commercial and solution-driven mindset with a sound risk and controls attitude
• Commit to personal development and foster team grasp through coaching and training
• Build close working relationships with a range of stakeholders/product partners within the Commercial & Investment Bank
• Drive key initiatives and process changes by spotting limitations/gaps in systems, risk controls, and policies

Required qualifications, capabilities, and competencies

• Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Finance, or a related field
• Familiarity with the concepts of Credit Risk – how it may arise and potential mitigants
• Good interpersonal and communication abilities, with the capacity to establish credibility and trust with internal business and risk stakeholders
• Aptitude to demonstrate good time management and clarity in thinking when dealing with multiple work streams in a fast-paced environment
• Capability to think holistically and logically and communicate own views in an easy to understand fashion

Preferred qualifications, capabilities, and capabilities

• 2-3 years of exposure to credit risk management in the financial services industry would be highly regarded
• Relevant postgraduate qualifications (e.g., MBA, Masters of Finance, CFA, CA) would be highly regarded
• Grasp of the Corporates and Financial Institutions financial analysis
