According to financial reports published by The Economic Times and ET Realty on 31 October 2026, LIC Housing Finance (LIC HFL) registered a 12% year-on-year increase in consolidated net profit to ₹1,507 crore for the second quarter ended 30 September 2026 (Q2 FY27), compared to ₹1,349 crore in the corresponding period of the previous fiscal year. Consolidated net profit after tax stood at ₹1,506.59 crore, up 11.7% from ₹1,349.37 crore in Q2 FY26, while total consolidated income rose 1.5% year-on-year to ₹7,194.43 crore. Reporting by Kotak Neo indicated that on a standalone basis, the housing finance company posted a net profit of ₹1,508.78 crore for the quarter, compared to ₹1,353.87 crore a year earlier, with standalone revenue from operations reaching ₹7,175.08 crore.

The company's earnings growth was supported by steady interest income and a sharp reduction in credit provisions. The Economic Times reported that interest income increased 1% year-on-year to ₹7,122 crore, while finance costs rose modestly to ₹5,023 crore from ₹4,995 crore in Q2 FY26. Bottom-line expansion was significantly aided by an impairment reversal of ₹92.57 crore on financial instruments, compared to an impairment provision charge of ₹71.99 crore in the same period last year. ET Realty noted that overall asset quality strengthened during the quarter, with Gross Non-Performing Assets (GNPA) improving to 2.05% as of 30 September 2026, down from 2.51% a year prior and 2.14% as of 30 June 2026. Net NPA stood at 1.06%, while Expected Credit Loss (ECL) provisions decreased to ₹4,292 crore from ₹5,074 crore a year earlier, with Stage 3 provision coverage at 49%.

Business activity across retail and commercial lending segments maintained steady momentum. Figures published by ET Realty show that total loan disbursements grew 11% year-on-year to ₹18,127 crore in Q2 FY27, up from ₹16,313 crore in Q2 FY26. Retail home loan disbursements expanded 10% to ₹17,563 crore, while commercial project finance disbursements recorded a 49% surge to ₹564 crore compared to ₹378 crore in the year-ago quarter. The lender's total loan portfolio expanded 5% year-on-year to reach ₹3,26,173 crore as of 30 September 2026. Retail loans comprised ₹3,16,433 crore of the total book (up 4% YoY), while project loans accounted for ₹9,740 crore (up 12% YoY). Looking ahead, Investing.com reported that LIC HFL management maintained its full-year FY27 guidance targeting 12% to 14% growth in Assets Under Management (AUM) and approximately 15% overall disbursement growth, while maintaining net interest margins between 2.5% and 2.6%. Executive Sandeep Kumar, cited by Business Line, highlighted project finance as a margin-accretive growth focus to help expand the total portfolio to ₹3.5 lakh crore in the second half of FY27.

What this means for BFSI jobs

The projected full-year disbursement growth target of 15% indicates sustained hiring momentum across housing finance companies (HFCs) and non-banking financial companies (NBFCs). As noted by Investing.com, active targets for disbursement expansion drive immediate talent requirements across front-line mortgage sales, loan relationship managers, direct selling agent (DSA) channel managers, and branch operations executives needed to process retail home loan volumes.

The 49% year-on-year jump in commercial project finance disbursements signals specialized hiring demand within corporate real estate credit. Business Line reported executive emphasis on developer finance as a margin expansion lever, which translates directly into demand for professionals skilled in real estate corporate credit, project finance underwriting, legal and technical property valuation, and commercial risk analysis.

Furthermore, the reduction in GNPA to 2.05% and lower credit loss provisions highlight an ongoing institutional focus on asset quality management. Housing finance firms continue to seek candidates proficient in risk analytics, credit monitoring, and early-warning asset quality controls to maintain loan book health amid growing disbursements. Data from Finploy shows 41,106 active open jobs across the BFSI sector as of 3 November 2026, with primary job listings concentrated in major financial centers including Mumbai with 11,219 open roles, Pune with 1,080, Chennai with 1,000, Bengaluru with 963, Hyderabad with 789, Bangalore with 570, Thane with 503, and Kolkata with 425. Growth in mortgage lending and commercial developer finance ensures steady demand for both retail credit officers and corporate project underwriters across these key job markets.
