Job Description
To lead and manage the technical design of automation frameworks, mentor engineers, and ensure that automated testing provides maximum coverage and speed within the development lifecycle.
Key Responsibilities
- Technical Leadership: Architect and maintain scalable automation frameworks. Design, create, and maintain scalable, reusable automated test frameworks (Web, API, Mobile) using tools like Selenium, Playwright and set coding standards for the team.
- Mentorship & Code Reviews: Guide the team, to perform code reviews and provide technical expertise. Conduct rigorous code reviews to ensure script maintainability and mentor junior automation engineers on best practices.
- Process Improvement: Integrate automation scripts into CI/CD pipelines (e.g., GitLab, Jenkins), reducing manual effort and improving regression testing efficiency.
- Execution Strategy: Develop, execute, and analyse automated tests for functional, UI, and backend services. Determine which test cases are to be automated based on ROI and risk and manage the execution of automated suites for each release.
- CI/CD Ownership and Integration: Work closely with DevOps to integrate automated tests into the deployment pipeline, ensuring "Shift Left" testing is realized. Integrate automation suites into Continuous Integration/Continuous Deployment (CI/CD) pipelines to enable continuous testing.
- Reporting & Analytics: Analyse automation results, track stability and provide technical health reports to stakeholders.
- Collaboration: Act as the primary technical point of contact to resolve blockers and align on requirements. To work closely with developers, product owners, QA engineers and DevOps teams to align testing strategies with project goals.
- Defect Management: Triage failures, analyse root causes, and track defects to closure.
Required Qualifications
- Academic: Any degree in software engineering. Must be certified in either at basic level or advanced level of automation testing. Certified either SaFe or Scrum master is also preferred.
- Relevant experience: A minimum of 8 years of experience in any software quality assurance and with 4-5 years of experience in automation strategy
Required Skills
- Technical Skills: Deep knowledge of test automation tools (Selenium Webdriver, Cucumber BDD) and programming languages (Java, Python, C#) and relevant automation libraries.
- API & Backend Testing: Strong experience with API automation and database validation
- Methodologies: Strong understanding of Agile/Scrum development, STLC (Software Testing Life Cycle), and CI/CD tools.
- Tools: Expertise in version control (Git), CI/CD tools (Jenkins, GitLab, GitHub Actions), and test management software (Jira, Zephyr).
Required Soft Skills
- Excellent problem-solving and troubleshooting abilities.
- Strong communication and leadership skills to drive cross-functional projects.
