To support long-term credit expansion, the board of directors approved a proposal to raise up to ₹17,500 crore in fresh equity during meetings held on 1–2 October 2026, according to the Economic Times. The planned equity raise—the largest in the firm's history—comprises up to ₹11,700 crore through a Qualified Institutional Placement (QIP) and up to ₹5,800 crore via a preferential issue of convertible warrants to parent entity Bajaj Finserv Limited. Reporting by Kotak Neo indicated that the transaction is targeted for launch in November 2026, with Kotak Mahindra Capital, JP Morgan, and Morgan Stanley appointed as advisory investment banks. Management outlined that the fresh capital infusion will help expand the balance sheet towards an AUM target of approximately ₹11 trillion by FY30, as published by Mint. Vice-Chairman and Managing Director Rajeev Jain stated that the lender expects to disburse 60–62 million new loans and acquire 18–20 million new customers in FY27, maintaining full-year AUM growth guidance of 26–27%, according to the Economic Times.

What this means for BFSI jobs
The continued balance sheet expansion and physical footprint growth at India's largest retail NBFC indicate sustained hiring momentum across multiple functions in the non-banking sector. According to the Economic Times, Bajaj Finance added 4,100 distribution points during Q2 FY27, expanding its network to over 254,000 distribution points across 4,091 locations. Data published by Angel One indicates plans to open 150 to 175 new physical locations during FY27. This geographical reach maintains demand for frontline roles, including branch operations managers, sales executives, and credit officers across urban and semi-urban hubs.
As the company scales specialized lending verticals—such as commercial vehicle loans, tractor financing, gold loans, and MSME credit—recruitment requirements are shifting toward technical domain expertise. As highlighted by Business Today, demand is increasing for specialized credit underwriters, risk modelers, and recovery personnel capable of managing secured and unsecured loan portfolios. Simultaneously, the company's strategic decision to move away from short-tenor three-month gold loan schemes toward longer-duration products underscores a risk-averse credit strategy that prioritizes portfolio stability over short-term volume, according to statements reported by Mint.
Operational efficiency initiatives are also shaping technology talent needs. Reporting by WCRC Leaders points to an increased deployment of artificial intelligence agents and automated servicing tools to manage operating leverage. Consequently, candidates with expertise in AI-driven lending platforms, automated underwriting algorithms, and digital collection frameworks are increasingly preferred in back-office and technology hubs. For jobseekers exploring opportunities across the non-banking sector, current market activity remains concentrated in primary financial centres; Finploy data as of October 2026 shows 43,262 active BFSI job listings, with major employment hubs led by Mumbai (11,232 listings), Bengaluru (1,163 listings), and Pune (1,116 listings).
