IIBF JAIIB November 2026: what changed

The Indian Institute of Banking and Finance (IIBF) has set out the schedule and rules for the Junior Associate of IIBF (JAIIB) November 2026 cycle. JAIIB is a foundation certification for operational bankers, customer-service staff and junior officers. It tests banking operations, financial regulation, accounting and retail wealth products.

Oliveboard reports that registration opened on 12 August 2026, with a late-fee window running to early September. Admit cards went out online once the registration window closed.

Exam dates and format

JAIIB has four compulsory papers. Each is a 2-hour, online, computer-based test of 100 multiple-choice questions worth 100 marks.

PaperSubject TitleExam DateTest FormatDuration
Paper 1Indian Economy & Indian Financial System (IE & IFS)1 November 2026100 MCQs (100 Marks)2 Hours
Paper 2Principles & Practices of Banking (PPB)22 November 2026100 MCQs (100 Marks)2 Hours
Paper 3Accounting & Financial Management for Bankers (AFM)28 November 2026100 MCQs (100 Marks)2 Hours
Paper 4Retail Banking & Wealth Management (RBWM)29 November 2026100 MCQs (100 Marks)2 Hours

Paper 1, Indian Economy & Indian Financial System, was held on 1 November across three shifts. Adda247's exam analysis called it moderate to difficult, covering economic theory, the financial system, reserve requirements and current banking products.

Physics Wallah notes a 21-day gap between Paper 1 (1 November) and Paper 2 (22 November): built-in time for working bankers to study for the remaining three papers around branch duty, customer-facing shifts and month-end closing.

Who can sit the exam

Candidates must be Ordinary Members of IIBF, working at an IIBF-recognised institution, a public or private sector bank, Regional Rural Bank, co-operative bank or licensed foreign bank in India, with at least a 10+2 qualification.

How to pass

There are two ways to clear JAIIB: score at least 50 out of 100 in each of the four papers on its own, or score at least 45 in every paper while reaching 50% overall (200 out of 400) in one sitting. The second route lets a strong score in Accounting & Financial Management for Bankers offset a weaker one in a regulatory paper, as long as no paper falls below 45.

Why it matters for pay and promotion

Career Power reports two concrete gains from passing JAIIB. Under IBA bipartite rules, permanent staff at public sector banks get an immediate pay increment on passing, ahead of their normal annual appraisal. It also counts in internal promotion: clerical staff and customer-service associates get a faster route to Officer Scale-I, Scale-I officers strengthen their case for Scale-II, and private-bank or RRB staff gain a standard, recognised proof of technical competence.

Finploy's own experience placing BFSI candidates points to a caution worth adding here: a certification like JAIIB clears a floor, it does not set a ceiling. Entry fixed pay in front-line banking roles on Finploy sits around Rs 3.4-4.25 lakh a year regardless of which certificate a candidate holds. The bigger pay jumps come later, from depth in one product and one certification over time: go deep in one area for about two years, then move, rather than collecting certificates broadly. JAIIB is the first rung of that ladder for public sector bank staff, not the last one.

Where the jobs are

Professional certification helps candidates stand out in a market that is still hiring briskly. Finploy's own listings on 7 November 2026 show 44,990 open BFSI roles nationally.

Mumbai leads with 11,225 open roles, ahead of Bengaluru, Pune, Chennai and Hyderabad. A JAIIB pass, backed by steady product depth, helps a candidate move into the operational, credit and wealth roles concentrated in these centres.

Preparing for the remaining papers

Candidates sitting the remaining three papers should use the 21-day gap to plan study time around branch duty. Log in to the official IIBF portal to confirm your venue, shift and admit card, and revise multiple-choice technique, accounting numericals and the latest regulatory updates before each paper.
