Role Description

• Valuation Control (VC) Strats team, part of Group Strategic Analytics (GSA), plays a key role in supporting the bank’s Valuation Control (VC) function which is responsible for the independent valuation of the bank’s Fair Value balance sheet. This collaboration ensures correct fair value reporting and appropriate reserving and regulatory capital calculation for the bank’s financial instruments.
• The candidate will collaborate with Valuation Control managers and Front Office quantitative teams globally to design and deliver technology solutions that enhance valuation processes and methodologies across internal and regulatory-driven projects. The role requires a strong understanding of Independent Price Verification, Reserves, and Prudential Valuation, combined with direct ownership of software design, implementation, testing, deployment, and production support.
• The candidate should be able to translate business and quantitative requirements into end-to-end solutions on a scalable platform. Strong Python software-development expertise is essential, including object-oriented design, data structures, testing, debugging, performance optimization, version control, and the development of maintainable production-grade code. The candidate must also communicate technical designs, implementation choices, and delivery risks clearly to stakeholders across regions.
• Candidate will also facilitate and foster stakeholder relationships globally and within the local region and will also be responsible for development, support, and motivation of the team.

Group Strategic Analytics:

Analytics and technology are central to the bank’s Investment Bank, Corporate Bank, and Risk and Control functions. The Strategic Analytics team combines quantitative modelling, pricing, and risk-management expertise with strong software-engineering and system-architecture capabilities. Its primary output is a scalable, flexible, and production-grade pricing and risk-management platform, supported by reusable analytics libraries and consistent interfaces to the Middle Office and Back Office. Consistency across analytics and technology helps prevent arbitrage between parts of the Bank and supports the rational allocation of constrained resources, including risk budget, balance sheet, funding, and capital.

Your key responsibilities

• Build libraries and develop automated and analytical solutions which can support Valuation Control business activities like Market Data Submission to Totem, Independent Price Validation, Prudential Valuation, Levelling etc.
• Collaborate with global stakeholders to validate requirements, assumptions, interfaces, and acceptance criteria.
• Translate requirements from business into reusable and scalable production components.
• Develop, design, implement and test underlying libraries and interface which are audit-compliant, dependable, and resilient for the use case.
• Build python libraries and APIs which follows standards and best practices in terms of cyber-hygiene and coding, validation, testing standards of the bank. with documentation, automated tests, and appropriate controls which are fit for the purpose.
• Resolve regulatory, audit, and internal findings through root-cause analysis and sustainable technical controls.
• Support proper documentation of the implemented methodologies. 

Your skills and experience

• Relevant experience in quantitative software development, financial engineering, pricing, risk, or valuation: 8.5+ years for VP.
• Strong analytical skills demonstrated by a background in MFE / Engineering / Mathematics / Quantitative Statistics background from top colleges.
• Industry experience in programming in Python and programming concepts (Class, Pointers, Data structure – stacks, queue).
• Good knowledge of derivatives financial product and pricing methodology in at least one asset class – Equity, Credit, Rates, FX, Commodities.
• Experience in valuation models and pricing techniques
• Market risk, Middle office, Valuations background with relevant subject matter expertise in one of the three disciplines.
• Excellent communication skills and diligence
• Strong analytical, critical thinking skills with ability to cope well under pressure and tight timelines.
• A history of working in Projects and supporting Production environment simultaneously.
