Job Purpose:
Safeguard organizational interests through legal means.
Provide legal assistance to the collection department for debt recovery from delinquent customers.
Represent the bank in all legal matters with Power of Attorney (POA).
Job Responsibilities:
Litigation Management:
Timely filing of legal cases as per policy.
Ensure presence in all court matters and zero dismissal of cases for default.
Issue statutory and reply notices within Turnaround Time (TAT).
Data Management:
Update legal case status in the legal module.
Maintain accurate MIS and reports on activities (stage and date wise).
Capture recovery, cost, and share data by the 10th of each month in the prescribed format/legal module.
Risk Management:
Effectively and timely manage cases filed against the bank and staff in judiciary, quasi-judiciary, and law enforcement agencies.
Coordinate with internal staff for necessary information for court proceedings.
Defend matters suitably in courts, ensuring appropriate addressing and keeping the function updated on developments to reduce risk exposure.
Vendor Management:
Review cases handled with legal vendors monthly.
Update on developments and ensure bills for services rendered are raised by the 10th of the immediate month with supporting documents.
Ensure allocated cases are properly represented and matters are led appropriately.
Educational Qualifications:
Graduation in Law
Key Skills:
Banking Product & Process Knowledge
Good Communication skills (English and Local language)
Knowledge of Current legal/recovery trends in the financial industry
Knowledge on recovery-related laws
Familiarity with local court processes
MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint proficiency
Experience Required:
Minimum 1-3 years of experience
Exposure to banking/NBFCs preferable
