Job Description

Discover your future at Citi

Working at Citi is far more than just a job. A career with us means joining a team of approximately 219,000 dedicated people from around the globe. At Citi, you’ll have the opportunity to grow your career, give back to your community and make a real impact.

Job Overview

This is a high-impact opportunity to join Citi's global independent risk oversight function as a Senior Credit Risk Analyst, where you will apply advanced analytics and AI-driven approaches to monitor wholesale credit portfolios and shape the materials that inform senior risk decisions worldwide. Sitting within a globally connected portfolio management team in Mumbai, you will operate with a high degree of autonomy, producing forward-looking risk analysis and governance documentation that directly supports Citi's second line of defence risk framework. This role is built for an analytically sharp professional who wants to move beyond conventional reporting and apply data visualization, automation, and predictive thinking to real-world credit risk challenges at a global scale.

Responsibilities

  • Design, automate, and deliver portfolio monitoring materials for global risk forums and senior management reviews, integrating AI concepts and advanced analytical tools to generate insights that go beyond standard reporting.
  • Monitor wholesale credit portfolios to identify emerging risk trends, concentrations, and credit deterioration signals, translating complex datasets into clear, visually compelling outputs for senior stakeholders.
  • Analyse large volumes of credit metrics and portfolio data to develop forward-looking risk indicators that support robust risk identification and assessment across the wholesale book.
  • Collect, maintain, and organize internal control assessment evidence, ensuring documentation meets regulatory expectations and internal governance standards with precision and consistency.
  • Execute control testing activities, tracking identified gaps, remediation actions, and evidence submissions to completion within agreed timeframes.
  • Maintain the team's global project tracker with meticulous accuracy, giving stakeholders across time zones full visibility into milestones, priorities, and delivery status.
  • Communicate analytical findings and risk assessments to Credit Officers, Product Managers, and Risk Managers across regions through structured written reports that drive alignment without reliance on frequent meetings.

Required qualifications & skills

  • Three to five years of experience in credit risk management, portfolio risk analysis, or a data-centric discipline within a financial institution.
  • Advanced proficiency in Excel, with the ability to build, manage, and quality-assure complex analytical models and reporting outputs independently.
  • Demonstrable ability to manage multiple concurrent workstreams, maintain precise documentation, and deliver high-quality outputs with minimal supervision in a deadline-driven environment.
  • Outstanding written communication skills, with a clear ability to present complex analytical content concisely to a senior, global audience.
  • A self-directed work style with the confidence to take ownership of deliverables, flag risks proactively, and operate effectively across different time zones without close direction.
  • A bachelor's degree or equivalent in Finance, Economics, Data Science, Computer Science, or a related quantitative discipline.

Beneficial skills & qualifications

  • Familiarity with AI or machine learning concepts applied to financial data analysis, or experience using statistical methods to enhance reporting and risk monitoring.
  • Proficiency with data visualization platforms such as Tableau or Power BI, enabling the translation of complex portfolio data into clear, actionable visual outputs.
  • Exposure to scripting languages such as Python or R for data automation, or experience using SQL for data extraction and transformation.
  • Prior exposure to internal control assessment frameworks, with an aptitude for improving and automating control-related processes.
  • A master's degree or a professional qualification such as the FRM or CFA designation.

What we offer

At Citi, you will work in a performance-driven global environment where your analytical contributions directly influence how credit risk is assessed and communicated at the highest levels of the organisation. This role offers genuine autonomy, exposure to a global stakeholder network, and the opportunity to apply emerging technology to meaningful risk management challenges.

  • A hybrid working model with 3 days in the office and 2 days working remotely, giving you flexibility alongside meaningful in-person collaboration.
  • Direct influence on senior risk governance, with your work informing decision-making at global risk forums and executive management reviews.
  • The opportunity to apply AI and automation to credit risk processes, positioning you at the forefront of how risk management is evolving within a leading global bank.
  • Access to Citi's global professional network, connecting you with Credit Officers, Risk Managers, and Product specialists across multiple regions and business lines.
  • Structured support for continued professional development, including pathways relevant to risk, analytics, and portfolio management disciplines.
  • Competitive financial wellbeing and benefits in line with Citi's total rewards framework for your location.

Apply now to bring your credit risk expertise and analytical thinking to a global team where your work shapes how Citi monitors and manages wholesale portfolio risk at scale.
