Job Description

#LI-DNI Job PurposeThe QA/QC Engineer will be responsible for implementing and monitoring Quality Assurance and Quality Control activities for road and highway construction projects. The role involves ensuring that construction activities, materials, workmanship, testing, and documentation comply with approved project specifications, drawings, applicable codes, and client requirements.Key ResponsibilitiesImplement the project QA/QC Plan, Inspection & Test Plans (ITPs), Method Statements, and Quality Procedures.Monitor quality of construction activities related to earthwork, embankment, subgrade, GSB, WMM, bituminous works, drainage, structures, and road furniture.Conduct inspections at various stages of construction and ensure compliance with approved drawings, specifications, and method statements.Coordinate with client, consultant, subcontractors, site engineers, and laboratory teams for inspection and testing activities.Ensure that all construction materials are inspected and approved before use.Review Material Test Certificates (MTCs), test reports, inspection reports, and quality records.Coordinate and witness field and laboratory tests for soil, aggregates, concrete, asphalt/bitumen, and other construction materials.Monitor testing requirements including FDT, sieve analysis, Proctor, CBR, concrete tests, bitumen/asphalt tests, density tests, and other relevant tests.Raise and close NCRs (Non-Conformance Reports), observations, and quality-related issues in coordination with the concerned teams.Ensure corrective and preventive actions are implemented and effectively closed.Conduct regular quality inspections and prepare inspection requests, checklists, and quality reports.Maintain proper documentation and records for audits, inspections, testing, and project handover.Support internal, client, consultant, and third-party quality audits.Ensure compliance with applicable IRC, MORTH/MoRTH, ASTM, AASHTO, IS, project specifications, and client requirements, as applicable.Monitor calibration and validity of testing and measuring equipment.Coordinate with the construction team to identify potential quality issues and implement preventive measures.Participate in quality meetings and provide inputs on recurring quality issues and improvement initiatives.Assist in preparation of Quality Dossiers / Final Documentation for project completion and handover.Key Technical SkillsRoad & Highway Construction Quality ControlQA/QC procedures and documentationInspection & Test Plans (ITP)Method Statements and ChecklistsEarthwork, Subgrade, GSB & WMMBituminous / Asphalt WorksConcrete and Drainage WorksMaterial Testing & Laboratory CoordinationNCR / Corrective & Preventive Action (CAPA)Quality Audits and DocumentationKnowledge of IRC / MORTH / IS / ASTM / AASHTO standardsDrawing and specification interpretationExperienceRelevant experience in QA/QC for EPC / Road / Highway / Infrastructure projects.Experience in road construction quality control, material testing, inspection, and documentation is preferred.Candidates with experience in EPC road/highway projects and client/consultant coordination will be preferred.Desired CompetenciesStrong understanding of road construction processes and quality requirements.Good analytical and problem-solving skills.Strong documentation and reporting skills.Ability to coordinate effectively with multiple stakeholders.Good understanding of construction drawings, specifications, and contractual quality requirements.Ability to work effectively at project/site locations under tight project timelines.Key DeliverablesCompliance with approved QA/QC procedures and project specifications.Timely completion and closure of inspections, NCRs, and observations.Accurate and complete quality documentation.Effective monitoring of material and construction quality.Successful completion of client/consultant inspections and quality audits.Preparation of quality documentation required for project completion and handover.
