SECTION II: ROLE SUMMARY (Purpose of the Role)

The Team Member – MEP & Utilities supports procurement and contract management for MEP systems and utility services across projects. The role focuses on assisting in tendering, technical and commercial evaluation, contract documentation, and coordination with project and engineering teams to ensure timely and cost-effective award of MEP packages.

SECTION III: KEY RESPONSIBILITIES/ ACCOUNTABILITIES

Financial / Functional Perspective

? Support cost optimization for MEP and utility packages through benchmarking and negotiations

? Assist in controlling project costs through contract and variation tracking

? Support budgeting and cost planning for MEP and utility works

? Track financial impact of variations and change orders

Customer Perspective

? Support project and technical teams in procurement of MEP packages

? Build working relationships with MEP contractors, OEMs, and service providers

? Ensure transparent and timely procurement processes

? Support timely award of MEP contracts in line with project schedules

Internal Process Perspective

? Support execution of procurement strategy and contract packaging for MEP and utilities

? Assist in tendering, technical evaluation, and commercial negotiations

? Prepare and review MEP and utility contracts and work orders

? Coordinate with design, engineering, and project teams

? Track contract execution, variations, and claims

? Maintain approved vendor and OEM databases

? Ensure compliance with company procurement policies and procedures

  • Exposure to procurement of HVAC, electrical systems, fire fighting, ELV, STP, WTP, and other utility systems including contract documentation and vendor coordination.

  • Ability to utilize knowledge of existing procurement policies and SOPs to issue, manage, and monitor purchase orders for materials, services, and equipment with vendors, ensuring that all transactions align with project specifications and organizational requirements
  • Ability to utilize knowledge of prevailing market rates for materials, manpower /labor, and services to conduct cost benchmarking, assess and pre-empt price fluctuations, negotiate competitive contracts and ensure project cost efficiency while adhering to project specifications and budget for effective financial planning and execution
  • Ability to understand the vendor landscape, including vendor capabilities, vendor performance criteria (pricing, quality, timelines, compliance with standards, past performance etc.) and lifecycle costing, to assess and select vendors, ensuring optimal vendor selection that aligns with organizational requirements and operational goals
  • Ability to utilize knowledge of database management systems, business intelligence tools, data analytics, and reporting frameworks to design and implement efficient MIS processes, ensuring accurate data integration, real-time reporting, and actionable insights that support strategic decision-making, monitor organizational performance, and enhance operational efficiency
  • Ability to understand, interpret, and apply L&T’s internal Procure?to?Pay (P2P) guidelines across all procurement?related activities, ensuring that sourcing, evaluation, onboarding, contracting, approvals, documentation, and payments are executed strictly in line with organizational policies and controls.
