Job Overview

Citi’s Risk Management organization oversees risk-taking activities and assesses risks and issues independently of the front-line units. We establish and maintain the enterprise risk management framework that ensures the ability to consistently identify, measure, monitor, control and report material aggregate risks.

This role focuses on enhancing and validating methods for measuring and analyzing market, credit, and operational risks. Key responsibilities include validating credit risk models and early warning tools, conducting data analysis for Loss Given Default studies, and strategically using scoring models. The position involves independently maintaining critical risk parameters, identifying and formulating policies, interpreting data to make recommendations, and clearly documenting all processes. The individual will also manage projects, contribute to new analytical tool development, and present findings and recommendations to stakeholders.


In this role, you’re expected to:


  • Enhance and validate methods for measuring and analyzing market, credit, and operational risks.
  • Validate models for measuring obligor credit risk and early warning tools for corporate or consumer credit risk.
  • Participate in Loss Given Default studies, conducting data analysis and contributing to model development.
  • Validate, and strategically use scoring models and related policies.
  • Maintain key risk parameters, including default and rating migration data, usage given default data, and transition matrices.
  • Identify policy gaps and formulate policies.
  • Interpret data and make recommendations based on analysis and specialty area knowledge.
  • Document all methods, models, and validation processes clearly and concisely.
  • Independently manage smaller projects or components of larger projects.
  • Contribute to the development of new analytical tools and techniques.
  • Present findings and recommendations to stakeholders.

As a successful candidate, you’d ideally have the following skills and exposure:


  • 2-4 years relevant experience
  • Experience in Quantitative Finance, Risk management, Analytics, Model Development or Model Validation is highly preferred.
  • Knowledge of data analysis tools and methodologies (e.g., Excel, R, Python).
  • Experience in developing and validating risk measurement methods and models is a plus.
  • Experience in credit risk analysis, particularly in the development of early warning tools, is desirable.
  • Familiarity with industry standards and practices related to credit risk management.
  • Experience in data analysis and interpretation.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent communication and diplomacy skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Proficiency in data analysis and interpretation.
  • Ability to identify inconsistencies in data or results and define business issues.
  • Ability to formulate recommendations on policies, procedures, or practices.
  • Ability to exchange information in a concise and logical way and be sensitive to audience diversity.
  • Strong analytical thinking skills and knowledge of data analysis tools and methodologies (e.g., SAS, R, Python).
  • Attention to detail and the ability to make informed judgments based on information.

Bachelor's/University degree or equivalent experience
